The washer refuses to start or locks the door immediately, flashing F35 (or sometimes “Sud”). This code stands for “Analog Pressure Sensor Failure”. The main computer (CCU) cannot detect the water level correctly.

⚠️ Warning: Do Not Blow Into the New Sensor! Many people try to test the new sensor by blowing into it with their mouth. STOP! The moisture from your breath will ruin the sensitive internal diaphragm instantly. Handle it with extreme care.

The Fix: You need to check the air hose for clogs first. If the hose is clear, the Analog Pressure Sensor itself has failed and must be replaced.

🎥 The Repair Video

Watch this guide to locate the Pressure Sensor. On Whirlpool Duet Steam models, it is located under the top panel on the right side.

Note from Steve: At 02:10, notice how he removes the small rubber hose. Ensure this hose is not pinched or clogged with lint, as that mimics a bad sensor.

🛒 Parts & Tools Checklist

If the hose is clear, the sensor is the culprit. This is the most common failure on “Steam” models.

💨 Step 1: The “Hose Check”

Unplug the washer.

  1. Remove Top Panel: Remove the 3 Torx screws on the back edge of the top panel. Slide it back and lift off.
  2. Locate the Sensor: It is a small, rust-colored or brown round part clipped to the right-side wall.
  3. Check the Hose: Disconnect the small black rubber hose from the sensor.
    • Blow through the hose (towards the tub).
    • Air should pass freely. If you hear bubbling or feel resistance, the hose is clogged. Clear it out.

🛠️ Step 2: Replace the Sensor

If the hose was clear, the sensor electronics are dead.

  1. Disconnect: Unplug the wire harness (squeeze the tab).
  2. Remove: Twist the sensor 90 degrees counter-clockwise to release it from the cabinet slot.
  3. Install: Insert the new sensor and twist to lock. Reconnect the hose and wire harness.
💡 Steve’s Diagnosis Tip: If you see corrosion on the sensor’s metal pins, check your humidity. Excess moisture from the “Steam” cycle often condenses here. Ensure the washer is vented properly.

🔄 Step 3: Reset and Test

Close it up and run a test.

  1. Put the top panel back on.
  2. Plug the washer in.
  3. Run a “Rinse & Spin” cycle. The F35 code should be gone.
