The washer refuses to start or locks the door immediately, flashing F35 (or sometimes “Sud”). This code stands for “Analog Pressure Sensor Failure”. The main computer (CCU) cannot detect the water level correctly.
The Fix: You need to check the air hose for clogs first. If the hose is clear, the Analog Pressure Sensor itself has failed and must be replaced.
🎥 The Repair Video
Watch this guide to locate the Pressure Sensor. On Whirlpool Duet Steam models, it is located under the top panel on the right side.
🛒 Parts & Tools Checklist
If the hose is clear, the sensor is the culprit. This is the most common failure on “Steam” models.

The Part (Pressure Sensor):

(Note: This is the specific “Analog” sensor for Steam models. Do not use generic switches.) -
Essential Tool (Torx Driver):
T-20 Torx Driver
(Required to remove the 3 screws holding the top panel.) -
Cleaner (Optional):
Electronic Contact Cleaner
(Use this if the wire connector pins look corroded.)
💨 Step 1: The “Hose Check”
Unplug the washer.
- Remove Top Panel: Remove the 3 Torx screws on the back edge of the top panel. Slide it back and lift off.
- Locate the Sensor: It is a small, rust-colored or brown round part clipped to the right-side wall.
- Check the Hose: Disconnect the small black rubber hose from the sensor.
- Blow through the hose (towards the tub).
- Air should pass freely. If you hear bubbling or feel resistance, the hose is clogged. Clear it out.
🛠️ Step 2: Replace the Sensor
If the hose was clear, the sensor electronics are dead.
- Disconnect: Unplug the wire harness (squeeze the tab).
- Remove: Twist the sensor 90 degrees counter-clockwise to release it from the cabinet slot.
- Install: Insert the new sensor and twist to lock. Reconnect the hose and wire harness.
🔄 Step 3: Reset and Test
Close it up and run a test.
- Put the top panel back on.
- Plug the washer in.
- Run a “Rinse & Spin” cycle. The F35 code should be gone.
